Face mapping, what does your skin tell you?

What is it?

Face mapping is an ancient practice developed over 3000 years ago in China that states your largest organ, being skin, is a reflection of your inner health. Each area of your face and anything that appears on the skin is a direct link to corresponding parts and functions of your body. It is not scientifically proven, hence the support for it falls into the wellness category.Healthy Skin is a reflection of overall wellness!

Why are we talking about it?

Whether face mapping is to be believed it is very revealing to know what each blemish or inflammation is linked to and hence taking active control to resolve it.  Face mapping breaks down each feature of the face and identifies the type of skin conditions you might expect to see and why it has happened.

The forehead

One of the most sebaceous areas along with the cheeks, chest and back, that has a high density if oil glands.

Acne mechanica can result from using too many or too much of hair products that can clog the pores, or simply by having a fringe where the hair rubs the forehead and causes irritation. Naked Actives hydrating cleanser is a gentle cleanser that if used daily could calm the skin, especially is used alongside Naked Actives Vitamin B3 & Niacinamide which helps to alleviate inflammation and redness.

Around the eyes

Often small bumps can appear around the eyelids, which are known as milia. These are small cysts/white bumps filled with keratin where dead skin cells have become trapped.  This can happen from using very heavy eye creams or sun damage.  A light and easily absorbed eye cream can be found in Naked Actives Anti-Aging Eye Cream.  The eye area is not one that gets affected by acne.

The nose

There is a high density of oil glands around the nose, much like the forehead.  Sometimes the spots that appear here are acne but they can also be an inflammatory skin condition called Rosacea. This is a common skin condition that causes redness and visible blood vessels in the face and can also produce small red, pus filled bumps.  It is not a marker for internal organ damage.  Naked Actives Vitamin B + Niacinamide provides effective relief to reduce inflammation and redness. However medical advice should be sought if there is uncertainty of the underlying cause.

The cheeks

This is again an area with a mass of oil glands where spots can appear.  Use of mobile phones can contribute to inflammation in this area.  The heat from the mobile phones can create occlusion, blockage of pores.

The neck, chin and jawline

Hormonal acne can cause a flare up on the lower half of the face, around the time of menstruation, however, it can be said that all acne is hormonally related.

The hairline

As with the forehead, use of hair products such as waxes and styling gels, or certain hairstyles can cause blockages to the pores around this area.

What can you do to help your skin?

There is no real answer to this – unfortunately.  One can only eat a healthy balanced diet, avoiding refined sugars, which have been proven to have some link to acne, however not completely, and drink plenty of water.  What you can

Taking care of skin is more important than covering it up also do is invest in a skincare regime that provides the ingredients to battle such skin conditions, like niacinamide and  salicylic acid.  This doesn’t have to come at a large cost, science based and affordable Naked Actives skincare range is worth investigating, it has something for everyone, in every sense.  In conclusion, face mapping gives some insight to why the skin reacts in certain ways.
