Interview with Veronika Petraskova
Natural Skincare in your 20’s
Our team from Formule De Soin sat with Veronika Petraskova, 25 years old from Slovakia but living in Prague. She shared her favorite skin care tips and what she wishes she could tell her younger self about skin care.
Seeing Veronika you know that she is a woman who takes care of herself. She rarely wears makeup and believes that a thorough skincare routine is much better than makeup. Her complexion is clean, clear and glowing and after speaking with her you know why.
Her daily routine is simple and easy Vitamin C serum, Peptide Serum, Hyaluronic Acid and finally an SPF to finish up her routine. The most important item in her daily routine is the SPF and she applies throughout the day, every time before she steps out into the sun. The easiest 10 minutes of her day. She does love the sun but when she tans, she will wear a hat, sunglasses or towel on her face in addition to the SPF. One key point to highlight is that Veronika still wears her SPF even in the winter.
One of her favorite beauty lines is The Ordinary. She loves the Argan Oil and finds it hydrating to skin and her hair. Argan oil has been shown to offer protection from sun damage, hydrate and help with healing wounds. There are so many benefits to this product and that’s why it's one of those must have items in your daily beauty regimen.
Veronika really started on her skin care just a few years ago at the age of 21. She started by researching the impacts of creating a daily and consistent routine. The research suggested that young women should start early with skin care but not with strong products. The research was claiming that as you age, you need to use stronger and stronger products so it's best to start with something simple when you are young such as a Vitamin C serum.
Diet is also a key factor. When young women don’t have a healthier diet it can lead to issues with breakouts and can affect your skin.
Her favorite tip to young women is to always wash, moisturize and use an SPF. If you don’t have a good base (a great skin care routine) then your makeup won’t look as good. Sleep also helps by keeping dark circles under the eye especially if you are prone to them by genetics.
One trend she would love to see is for more women to start talking about skin care with each other. Something that wishes more young women would do. It would be more beneficial to all women if those conversations were happening although not all women feel comfortable talking about their skincare challenges.
Veronika looks for clean (vegan), sustainable and gentle to the skin in her products and ingredients. Each week she treats herself to a different skin mask at home to help refresh & revitalize her skin.
Overall her skincare routine is one of the key factors in keeping her young and vibrant. Start young & stay consistent.
About Veronika Petraskova
Hi, my name is Veronika, and I am 25 years old. I live in Prague, but I am from Slovakia. I lead a very busy life, being a full-time student and working two part time jobs. Due to this, I try to take care of my skin, so I always look fresh and don't let the busy life and stress be visible on my face. One of my jobs is being a flight attendant, so my skin requires extra hydration and religious use of SPF. However, I think a good skin care routine is crucial for everyone. As they say, it is easier to prevent something than to fix it once the damage has been done.
My other job is working as an EMS trainer, so a healthy lifestyle is a given for me. But a healthy lifestyle for me means not just working out and eating nutritious food, but also taking time to treat my skin. I like to do face masks at least once a week, whether it is a hydrating, brightening or pore-tightening mask, depending on what my skin is seeking. Even though I have long days, I always find at least 5 minutes in the morning and evening to properly cleanse my face, apply vitamin C and different types of serums and moisturizers.
